Why Playtesting Matters

In today’s competitive gaming market, with Steam releasing over 30 titles a day, player experience and retention are everything. There are only so many gamers to go around. According to VG Insights, from 2020-2024 Steam has released over 66,000 games with around 19,000 being in 2024 alone and almost 2,000 titles in October that year. According to Head of Games at Twitch, Bill Young, over the last four years 68-79% of games each year are “limited games”.
